OE: Brazil 2006. Loop Recordings
The OE: BRAZIL album contains 11 original tracks performed by talented Brazilian and New Zealand musicians. The tracks are a fusion of Brazilian and New Zealand music and culture.
The album came about through the Bacardi B-Live OE: Brazil project. Through this project, LOOP Recordings took six New Zealand musicians to Sao Paulo for three weeks' "OE", or "overseas experience, where they recorded OE: BRAZIL with over 60 Brazilian musicians.
The New Zealand artists included Alda Rezende, Barnaby Weir (The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties), Hollie Smith, Maaka Phat (Wai), P.Digsss (Shapeshifter) and Recloose, who is a renowned DJ and producer. The Brazilian musicians included Apollo Nove, Barbatuques, BiD, Bossacucanova, Clube do Balanço, Drumagick, Funk Buia, Funk Como Le Gusta, Instituto, Max de Castro and The Zimbo Trio (Amilton Godoy, Luís Chaves and Rubinhon Barsotti).
The project also involved filming Bacardi B-Live OE: Brazil, which is a six-part documentary of the project, including recording, producing and performing the album OE: BRAZIL. The documentary has been shown on New Zealand’s C4 channel and in Brazil. The documentary is available to view on YouTube; since being released, it has been viewed over 65,000 times.
